Couples devotional ideas for busy schedules
Many couples want to grow spiritually together but struggle to find the time. A devotional does not need to be long. Ten focused minutes a few times a week can build a strong habit.
A simple 10 minute routine
- Read a short passage together, a few verses or a psalm (3 minutes).
- Each share one thing that stood out (3 minutes).
- Pray briefly for each other and for one need (4 minutes).
Find a time that fits
- Over morning coffee before the day starts.
- At the dinner table after the kids leave.
- Right before bed, phones away.
- On a phone call if one of you travels.
Ideas to keep it fresh
- Read through a short book such as Philippians or James a chapter at a time.
- Pick a psalm for the week and read it each day.
- Use a question, such as "Where did you see God this week?"
- Write down prayers and look back at them later.
- Read a marriage devotional together and talk about one point.
When life gets busy
You will miss days. Pick it back up without guilt. Consistency over months matters more than any single day. If one spouse is less comfortable praying aloud, keep it simple and let each person pray in their own words, or pray silently together.
